1tablespooncloves
1tablespoonwhole allspice
2podsstar anise
1orange, mediumthinly sliced
Instructions
Pour the apple cider into your slow cooker or a large pot on the stove and add the cinnamon sticks.
Place the cloves, allspice, and star anise into a small piece of cheesecloth or a tea infuser for easy removal later. Add the bundle to the cider. Add half of the orange slices to the cider and save the remainder for garnish.
Heat the cider until it just starts to barely boil, then lower the temperature to simmering for another 15 to 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Optional adult upgrade: If adding alcohol, stir it in during the last 30 minutes of cooking to preserve the flavor or add to the completed cider as desired.
Remove the spices and oranges from the pot. Ladle the hot cider into mugs and garnish with cinnamon sticks, orange slices, or star anise. Serve warm and enjoy!
